Climbing the ladder
He's done it, he’s finally climbed the next rung on the corporate ladder. The fresh leather creaks under his weight as he plops down into his new chair.
Spinning in his chair, a soft voice inside whispers, ‘Now what?’ He waits for a reality-changing revelation, some perceptible shift in existence, but nothing happens.
Seconds turn into minutes, minutes into hours, and the silence grows heavy. The room feels too big, or perhaps he feels too small.
Before the self-doubt has a chance to really kick in, his gaze shifts back to the ladder. There it is — another rung, another prestigious title beckoning him. The race has been reset. "Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy," the excited hamster exclaims, hopping onto its endless wheel for another spin.
